Our Mission:
Sam Houston High School Alumni Association’s purpose is to provide support to the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Sam Houston High School in order to promote success, spirit, and pride and improve student educational outcomes.
We are Texans helping Texans.
The SHHS Alumni Association is different than a traditional alumni association because we harness alumni and community support in an effort to improve educational outcomes for SHHS students. We act as an alumni association, a PTA, and a booster club for every program SHHS offers, with a focus to remove systemic barriers and promote educational equity for every student.
Sam Houston High School is a Title I campus today, meaning a majority of the students are living near or below the federal poverty guidelines. Over the years, we’ve been able to increase our fundraising as an organization, and in turn, our ability to respond at a greater capacity to better fulfill the ever-increasing need for support. The specific programs we’ve developed over the years now provide support to over 4,000 students, faculty, and staff members annually, covering programs and talents from all areas, as well as meeting immediate needs.
Through these programs, we have fulfilled requests to support students in shelters, provided shoes for the girls basketball team, purchased emergency clothing and food, provided travel and sponsorship for students to compete at high-level state competitions, purchased clothing for homeless students, provided baby care items for teen parents (so they can focus on school and plan for continuing education), established a food and personal care pantry (which the SHHS social worker and counselors now manage), and provided dinner to students participating in extracurricular activities after school who may have otherwise been going hungry between lunch and evening games.
The students and faculty at Sam Houston are under-served and under-resourced, but they’re full of talent and potential, and we are proud to serve them, and our alma mater!

made up entirely of volunteers, and we earned a 2021 Platinum Seal of Transparency.
